3 Things you can’t live without

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

I was tagged by Seth to post a blog about 3 things you can’t live without and it doesn’t need a genius to come up with a list of things that really matters in my life….

a. Mahal ko sa buhay - we strive for success and wealth. We try to be the best and achieve everything in life but ask the most successful people and they will say it’s all for the peopel that they love. Being far from home I appreciated more the simple luxury of being loved by my family, archie and my friends. I miss my mom’s pack lunch for me, my breakfast waiting for me, my dad waiting for me to go home so he can hear my kwentos in the office, simple gatherings kasama ng mga kapatid ko at mga pamangkit in laguna, archie fetching me from work and phone calls to friends, gimik every now and then or just simple hanging out…

b. My career - I’m at the point in my life that career is just starting. One good break came after the other and it gives you more option on what path to take after. I was often asked if I felt any descrimination on where I work because I’m Asian and I’ve heard so many complaints about that but I’m blessed that being Asian worked on my advantage. Why? Asians are more hardworking people and we are very flexible, we also don’t a make a big fuss about trivial things and gives high regard to our company and our superiors…

c. See the world - by birth gala po tlga ako. I want to see a lot of things and a lot of places. I’ve started and if God permits I will continue…

Life is short so let us live each day like it’s the last, carpe diem!

Boyfriends and Shirley Fuentes in Geneva

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Nope I’m not a fan and you wouldn’t catch me watching them if I’m in the Philippines but when I heard that they will be in Geneva to have a concert I immediately reserved for two tickets: for my friend and I.

I went there with no expectations, i don’t have any plans anyways for that night so might as well watch it. Ticket is not that much so I was very much willing to watch the concert.

It was Friday night and right after work I was supposed to meet my friends and have dinner together before the concert. Unfortunately they got mixed up with some errands so I’ve eaten a nice grille de beoufe with cafe de paris alone. They were already waiting for me at Ramada hotel so immediately after eating I went straight there.

It was around 8 already and the place wasn’t full yet. I was silently praying and hoping that more people will come. It started late, very unSwiss but it was okay. The place was buzzing with hi and hello from fellow Filipinas. Most of the crowd are Filipinas and they all seem to know each other. It was just a nice feeling to be surrounded with my maingay na mga kababayan =)

Concert started finally and after the 1st number of Shirley Fuentes I was so glad I actually came. To sum up the concert, I must say it was actually more of a stand up comedy show and the singers actually don’t have to sing anymore coz everybody was singing. It was so much fun, I didn’t know that those old familiar songs that I was humming before are actually from the boyfriends, songs like salawahan at bakit labis kitang mahal…

And at one point when the boyfriends sang some dance songs from their old albums our kababayans actually started dancing. It was like in a disco, there’s a band and people are dancing… I was so amazed, everybody was really in the mood to have fun!

Congratulations to the organizers and thank you for a wonderful night that you’ve given the Filipino community here in Geneva.

It’s been a long time…

My friend stayed over night with me last night and she just left for work a few minutes ago.

Same time last year she used to stay with me on Saturday nights because she was living on the country side so whenever she goes to geneve she will stay with me. We used to talk for hours, have lunch on Sunday on nice restaurants, watch movie, go out…

Last night after one year we’ve done it again. We watched a movie in Balexert, eat in a restaurant, she stayed in my place and we talked until late night… Talked about life, love, the future, others….

She will be going home soon to the Philippines, no definite plans of coming back here in Geneve. I will surely miss you girl. It was by faith that I’ve met you here and became my friend… My closest friend ever in Geneva. We will surely keep in touch but your presence here will surely be missed.

Thank God for Technology

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

Technology per se is a bag concept, i only want to focus on the things that makes my personal life easier.

1. YM - during weekend i talk to archie via ym and i just recently bought a webcam so now we only not talk but also see each other.

2. Meebo - i don’t have ym in the office, i can but i opted not to due to internet policy. through meebo i can chat with my family and friends even during office hours.

3. Digicam - One of the most wonderful thing ever invented by human kind. I don’t have to worries about changing the film or i don’t have to wait for the film to develop before seeing the output.

4. Mobile - aren’t they amazing? Loved ones need not to worry about our where abouts coz we can easily contact people through our mobile…

5. Wi-fi - no more hassle of being connected with the Rj45.

6. Roaming - because of the roaming facilities of mobile these days i can maintain my globe phone here in swiss and no more hassle of buying a phone card everytime i go out of the country coz i always can communicate via my mobile.

7. E-banking - the one thing i love most. All my bills even my remittance to manila are now all done via e-banking. Gosh gone are the days of going to the bank not to mention the long line.

8. Maestro and other bank agreements - with my payroll atm in swiss i can withdraw money even if i’m in manila so no need to carry cash while traveling.

And many more….
